Day 30 - Page, AZ

We hate to leave our campground. I think this is the most beautiful one we have had so far. The Colorado River, the buttes, the desert. So vast. You can see from the photos above.

A beautiful light over the whole view ahead. Our road takes a 14 mile loop turning north at Bitter Springs. We stop along the way to take more photos...the light is just so right!

We arrive in Page around 10 am and find a campground (with showers and internet). We drive into Page to do some major food shopping at Safeway and a stop at the Post Office.

We then drive to the Glen Canyon Dam (see photo) which was built in 1962 and has change the Colorado River quite a lot, holding back enormous amounts of sediment. In the process, it formed Lake Powell which is a very popular boating destination.

After lunch, we are picked up for a tour of the Antilope Upper Canyon. This is a sloth canyon which is quite special. The drive up to it is on a sandy wash which requires a 4x4 vehicle. This land is owned and operated by natives. There were a lot of people in the canyon, taking photos, but we had a very good guide who could advise on settings for your camera and the different points to take photos from. As we advanced into the canyon, he would scatter the group ahead of us.

We were back to the campground for beer & chips, showers, internet calls and dinner. Now it is time to call it a day.
