Day 23 - Bryce Canyon, Utah

It was a sunny morning with 8 degrees when we got up. After breakfast, we headed for Bryce Canyon Park. We drove to Sunrise Point and took a moderate hike (steep grades with "down and back" elevation change) of 3 miles (a little less than 5 km). It was described as the world's best 3-mile hike!

We first took the Queens Garden Trail and followed with the Navajo Loop. Our photos give a glimpse from the bottom of the canyon. It was a special feeling to be walking among the hoodoos. As we descended to the bottom of the canyon, it started to snow small pellets. There is a special to be walking in this incredible environment while the snow is falling (in May!!). We were following this couple and he would give out a big laugh by way of exclamation every time they came to a new vista. It was that spectacular to say the least.

At the end of the Navajo loop, you climb these amazing switchbacks between very tall hoodoos (time-sculpted cliffs). The terrain was getting quite muddy but our boots did the job. We arrived at the at Sunset Point and returned to Sunrise by following the Rim Trail.

After lunch, we continued on in the Park and visited three more viewpoints which we had not seen yesterday. They were all outstanding but I must say the Bryce Point was just breathtaking. So much to see. Just unbelievable what nature can do with time and erosion.

I'm afraid our weather switched from snow to very wet snow and then on to rain so we headed back to the campground, stopping to do some food shopping.

We had a very nice dinner out with fellow Danish campers with whom we hope to keep in touch. They will be flying home to Copenhagen next Monday after a 5-week trip.

Tomorrow....Zion and we believe back to blue skies...let's hope!!!
